Louisiana Early Childhood Association

Greetings!

On behalf of the Louisiana Early Childhood Association I welcome you to our website!

The Louisiana Early Childhood Association (LAECA) is a non-profit early childhood organization for teachers, parents, caregivers and early care professionals dedicated to improving the lives of Louisiana's children from birth to eight years of age. Our regional association is the Southern Early Childhood Association. A link to SECA is provided on the homepage for all to visit.

As president of our association, I along with our board members strive to keep abreast of current local, state and national issues that impact Louisiana’s Children. We strive to increase awareness, understanding, and knowledge of young children and their needs. We promote cooperation and collaboration between all those who work with or have concerns about young children. We also encourage the professional growth of our members through networking, workshops, conferences and publications. LAECA has great things going on in our state in regards to young children and their needs.

As a member I encourage you to become active in this organization. Contact your District Chairperson for more information. A link is provided on our homepage that shows the state of Louisiana and the seven districts with the necessary contact information. Perhaps “you” would be interested in filling a vacant position on our board? If you are not a member and want to know more about our worthwhile organization, please contact me or someone on the LAECA Board. We will be glad to visit with you and share our goals and vision for the Louisiana Early Childhood Association. Also as a member you receive Collaborations, the official journal of LAECA. You can find more information under the Collaborations link. Here you may view samples as well as our manuscript guidelines. Feel free to share your ideas with other colleagues and get them published!

Our annual fall conference is held in October. Our 2014 conference "Open the Door to Possibilities" will be held October 23-25, 2014. It will be held once again at the Sai Convention Center in Alexandria. With great pleasure and joy we will have Don Monopoli of The Learning Station and Lois Wachtel as our keynote speakers. I encourage you to check the website for conference updates, registration forms, hotel information, call for proposals, etc. So mark your calendar, our conference committee is always working hard putting it all together for you!

It is with great honor I serve as president of the Louisiana Early Childhood Association and look forward to working with its board and members through my second term!

Smiles!
Chris LeJeune
LAECA President
