Scholarships and Awards

Each year LAECA has up to $3,600.00 in scholarships and mini-grants available to members. Applications are printed in Collaborations and are available to members at LAECA.org (click the grant names below to get the forms)

LAECAAlmanda Anderson Scholarship

The Almanda Anderson Scholarship was established in 1975. This $500.00 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. This award is based on the student's professional involvement contribution and scholarship.

LAECALil and Roy Murphy Scholarship

The Lil and Roy Murphy Scholarship was established in 1994. This $500.00 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Recipients must have demonstrated scholarship, professionalism, character, purpose, and leadership.

LAECAAlice Teddlie Scholarship      Alice Teddlie Donation Form

The Alice Teddlie Scholarship was established in 1981. This $600.00 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. This award is based on scholarship, professionalism, character, poise, and leadership.

LAECAJeanne Gilley Graduate Scholarship

The Graduate Scholarship was established in 1994. This award was renamed the Jeanne Gilley Graduate Scholarship in 1997. This $500.00 scholarship is presented to a full-time or part-time graduate student majoring in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Recipients must have demonstrated scholarship, professionalism, character, and leadership.

LAECAJane Herrin Mini-Grant

The Jane Herrin Mini-Grant was established as a tribute to Jane Herrin for her concerns for quality facilities and staff development. Each year up to $1500.00 in mini-grants are awarded. Mini-grants can be used to enhance facilities or playground, staff development, special needs items, creative educational projects, or to conduct research, which will enhance staff development of facility planning.
